On March 17, 1893 the season had finished and after each team played their 8 games, the Montreal Hockey Club - or Montreal AAA as they’re also known - had taken home the first ever Stanley Cup.

The Stanley Cup was awarded to the team with the best record at the end of the season. Shortly after the season had ended, Montreal had been awarded their Cup, as well as gold rings to signify their championship.
