The second ever Stanley Cup challenge - and first ever, successful Stanley Cup challenge - came from the Winnipeg Victorias.  The Winnipeg Victorias defeated the Montreal Victorias 2-0 in February in a single elimination game.

They further solidified their hold on the Cup by winning their league - the MHA - with a 3-1-1 record over the Winnipeg Hockey Club.
