Without being tied to any sort of league or association, the Ottawa Hockey Club ended up defending the Stanley Cup four times against separate challengers.

The first challenge was a 2-1 series victory of the Winnipeg Rowing Club, followed by a 2-0 series victory against the Toronto Marlboros.

The greatest challenge came from the Montreal Wanderers of the FAHL.  A two game total goals series was determined, with the first game ending in a 5-5 tie.  At the end of regulation the Montreal Wanderers refused to play overtime.  They ended up refusing to play the series as scheduled and abandoned the challenge, with the Cup staying with Ottawa.

The team played another best of three series agains Brandon Wheat Cities in a 2-0 victory.
