Like the Winnipeg Victorias before them, the Kenora Thistles became one of the more prominent Stanley Cup challengers.  They would defeat the Montreal Wanderers and then retain the title against Brandon Wheat Cities in the MPHL Playoffs.

It’s interesting to wonder what the Stanley Cup would look like today had some of these western teams held on to it for longer.
